My trip to
Berlin
In June last
year I decided to take a trip to Berlin for vacations. There were many places
that I went and that inspired me and made this trip very special. I visited the memorial of murdered Jews of Europe,
the memorial of the Holocaust. The memorial commemorates the 6 million Jewish victims
that died under the hand of Hitler during world war 2 . This memorial represent the historical significance that changed Germany forever.
I visited a lot of remarkable places. One of those was
Charlottenburg Palace. Basically, this palace is a memorial of the Hohenzollern
clan. Now I know you all must be wondering where this clan came from and how
old it was. It was amazing to know that it dated back to 1415 AD to as much as
1918 AD. This palace holds the most incredible apartments that are decorated by
French painters which were 18th Century professionals in their
respective art.
When one visits this place, there are a lot of spots that are
so unique that it melts the heart. One of these spots is the Oak Gallery. It is
a beautiful hall that is made of wood and portraits bring out the uniqueness
it. When you visit the Oval hall you see
breathtaking views. Like that of the gardens. Other than that, the most amazing
area is the Porcelain Chamber. What makes it so special is that it is made up
of Chinese and Japanese blue ware.
In
this palace are stunning private rooms which once belonged to Fredrick the
Great in 1746. Beauty of the white hall is beyond perception. Golden Gallery
filled with mirrors cause you to look deeper than just the face that it shows.
I
also visited Potsdam. To all those who are new to this place, it is the capital
of Brandenburg. What makes this city so remarkable is where it is situated. The
river Havel makes Potsdam a very special place.
Like the Palace, this city also holds remarkable history which can move
us to the point that we can be affected in a deep manner. Not only did the
Prussian kings live there but the German Kaiser also resided. Because this city
is situated on a river, there are a number of rivers that connect with each
other providing the visitors with beautiful scenery. The palaces of Sanssouci
also hold historical importance. Other than that, there are research centers in
this area which go as much as 30 and include three public colleges.
The
Berlin Wall is a must see. The paintings on the wall are made to inspire our generation,
to see and remember the hard and painful conflict between east and west berlin during
world war two.
One of the
places I enjoyed eating was at the KaDeWe mall. I loved the
amazing food and the wonderful shopping. If you are in Berlin, the best place
for you to shop is this mall.
